ABOUT US

The Aquarius Project is a community capacity-building intervention program aimed to deter youth violence, gang involvement and school failure, while promoting self-sufficiency in life skills, employment and independent living. We continue to work in collaborations with Santa Clara County DA's office, Public Defenders office and Probation Department along with San Jose's Mayor's Gang Prevention Task Force and San Jose Police Department. The target participants are gang-involved and foster care youth and those at risk of becoming involved in the gang lifestyle or placed in out-of-home care.

The Aquarius Project is intended to provide an important tool for outreach and inclusion of this population, to offer a scientifically-based approach for leadership development and violence prevention, one that has been tested in other urban settings, and to develop the capacity within the community to embrace non-violence and positive alternatives for youth.

The Aquarius Project is part of the overall ethnic communities effort to stem violence and it fits directly into the National "Black Men Care" initiative of the 100 Black Men of America and it's local chapter, The 100 Black Men of Silicon Valley. The Aquarius Project is based on a systemic anti-gang project based in Boston, Massachusetts Operation Cease.
